Set of Clarinets by Franz Pfaff, Kaiserslautern, ca. 1850-1895

NMM 14435-14437. Set of three matched clarinets in A, B-flat, and C by Franz Pfaff, Kaiserslautern, ca. 1850-1895. Each in four sections. Stamped on top and bottom joints: [star] / [music lyre] / F. PFAFF / KAISERSLAUTERN. Stamped on barrels and bells: F. PFAFF / KAISERSLAUTERN. Grenadilla or cocus with German-silver fittings. Simple system. Twelve German-silver keys. Brille on bottom joint, second and third tone holes. Length of clarinet in A (tip of barrel to bottom of bell): 605.5 mm; clarinet in B-flat: 572 mm; clarinet in C: 503 mm.
