NMM 2773. Clarinet in C by Johann Pfaff, Philadelphia, ca. 1843-1888. Four sections. Stamped on mouthpiece, top joint, bottom joint, and bell: J.PFAFF / PHILA. Rosewood. Enhanced simple system (Müller type). Twelve German-silver keys. Brille on top joint, first and second tone holes, and bottom joint, second and third tone holes. Length (tip of mouthpiece to bottom of bell): 586 mm; length (tip of barrel to bottom of bell): 518 mm. Original rosewood mouthpiece. Arne B. Larson Collection, 1979.

Stamped on barrel and bell: F. PFAFF / KAISERSLAUTERN. Grenadilla or cocus with German-silver fittings. Simple system. Twelve German-silver keys. Brille on bottom joint, second and third tone holes. Stamped on barrel, lower joint, and bell: [star] / PFAFF / [star]. Boxwood with horn ferrules. Thirteen brass keys with round, domed covers. Length (tip of mouthpiece to bottom of bell): 473 mm.
