Annotated Checklist of Flutes by Louis Lot, Paris

NMM 3515. Flute attributed to Louis Lot, Paris, ca. 1849-1850. Distributed by Rudall & Rose, London. No serial number. Stamped on body (in script):  Rudall & Rose / Patentees / 38 Southhampton St Strand / London. Parabolic head, cylindrical body. Three sections. German-silver-plated tube. Silver-plated body, keys, raised lip plate, and screw-cap. Boehm 1832 key system, open G-sharp, Briccialdi B-flat. Post and axle supports. Lowest note c'. Total length, 669.2 mm. Sounding length, 592.1 mm. Original case. W. Wayne Sorensen Collection, 1984.

NMM 3232. Flute by Louis Lot, Paris, 1887. Serial no. 4416. Stamped on head:  L. L. / LOUIS LOT / PARIS / 4416 / BREVETÉ. Stamped on body, below socket:  L. L. / LOUIS LOT / PARIS / BREVETÉ. Parabolic head, cylindrical body. Three sections. Silver head joint, body, and foot joint (hallmarks on tenon and foot). Gold-plated lip plate bearing monogram JH. Seamed tubing. Boehm system with closed G-sharp key and five open finger holes. Total length, 679.5 mm. Sounding length, 596.2 mm. W. Wayne Sorensen Collection, 1983.

NMM 14491. Transverse flute in C by Louis Lot (1807-1896) workshop (during E. Barat's ownership), Paris, 1898. Serial no. 6412. Model 5 silver cylinder flute with C foot. Stamped on head:  L. L. / LOUIS LOT / PARIS / 6412 / BREVETÉ. Stamped on body, below socket:  L. L. / LOUIS LOT / PARIS / BREVETÉ. Silver head joint, body, and foot joint (all joints bearing hallmarks). Seamed tubing. Boehm system with closed G-sharp key and five open finger holes. Total length, 667 mm. Sounding length, 599 mm. Gift of Edith C. Piltch, Novato, California, in memory of her husband Victor T. Piltch, Jr. (1930-1994), 2010.
