NMM 2788. Flute by Henry Hill, London, ca. 1830-1832.Conical. Four sections. Stamped on upper body: [Crown] / HILL · LATE MONZANI & Co / 28 REGENT STT / PICCADILLY / LONDON / PATENT; on head, tuning slide barrel, and lower body: [Crown] / MONZANI & Co; on foot: [Crown] / PATENT. Number 3081. Cocus, silver ferrules. Telescoping tuning slide and screw-cap. Patented 1807 key system. Patent of 1812 features: lower body with integral foot, silver sockets, silver-tipped/cork-wrapped tenons. Seven silver keys in integral wood mounts. Closed keys: c'', B-flat, G-sharp, short F, D-sharp. Articulated keys: c'-sharp, c'. Lowest note c'. Hallmarks: r [lion passant] [king's head] [leopard's head] HH. Total length 709.6 mm. Sounding length, 639.3 mm. Original case. Ex coll.: Ellis Houghton, Blackpool, England. Arne B. Larson Estate, 1988.
