NMM 2943. Flute in D by Chabrier Peloubet, Bloomfield, New Jersey, ca. 1836-1885. Conical. Five sections. Stamped on tuning slide, upper joint, and heart piece: C. PELOUBET / NEW-YORK; stamped on foot joint: C. PELOUBET / NEW-YORK / FACTORY AT / BLOOMFIELD / NJ; stamped on upper joint between tenon and signature: P. H. TAYLOR'S / 407 / APPROVED. Ivory with silver ferrules. Eight silver keys. Total length, 25-3/4" (654 mm). Inlaid wooden case. Peloubet produced the Taylor model (named after a flutist with the Italian Opera in New York) starting ca. 1825. Arne B. Larson Estate, 1989.

Upper joint: Signature above first fingerhole. Long C, B-flat, and G-sharp keys in block mounts.

Heart piece: Signature between first and second finger holes. Short F and Long F in block mounts. Foot joint: Signature at lower end. D-sharp, C, and C-sharp keys in block mounts. On C and C-sharp keys, flaps are circular, with pewter heads covering key holes set in flat pewter squares.

Head joint: metal lined. Wide silver band surrounds headjoint at embouchure hole.
