NMM 7178.  Thighbone trumpet (rkang gling), Tibet, 19th century. Slightly curved copper body with brass fittings. Irregular bell opening in form of stylized sea dragon (makara), brass embellishments on edge of mouth. Metal trumpets like this allow for greater articulation and volume in ensemble playing.
