Commercial and Group Tour Information

Front view of NMM

Located on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River valley near where the Lewis & Clark expedition camped in 1804, Vermillion, South Dakota, is a small, typical Midwestern college town of 10,000 people. Not so typical is the National Music Museum, which is the home of some of the most important collections of rare, antique musical instruments to be found anywhere in the world!

Welcome!

Abell Gallery Tour

The NMM welcomes the opportunity to host commercial or other group tours. Guided tours of the NMM's collections are provided by trained curators. If requested, tours can be tailored to meet your group's specific interests. Advance reservations must be made for all commercial and other group visits.

Information about Commercial and Other Group Tours

Bus Tour Arrival Piano demonstration

General tours usually last from 60-90 minutes, although the length can be adjusted to fit your schedule.

For a quality experience, we recommend tour groups of no more than 25-30 individuals. The NMM can accommodate no more than 48 people at one time. If your group is larger than this, please plan to split the group in half and make alternate arrangements (call the NMM for ideas).

Groups requesting tours will be charged $8.00 per person, a savings of $2.00 over the regular admission fee of $10.00. There is no charge for the bus driver. Tour guides will be provided.

Groups of 10 or more will not be admitted without a confirmed reservation.

Tours should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance of the desired date.

Use of the concert hall for special programming (brown bag or catered luncheons, with or without programs; evening concerts, with or without dinner, etc.) requires advance notice, is subject to availability of the hall, and will cost an additional $5.00 per person, plus catering charges and/or artists’ fees.

Because there is particularly high demand for visits during the months of April and May, please call early to make your reservation.

Free bus parking is available in a reserved space in front of the NMM.

Free handicapped parking spaces are available in the northwest corner of the NMM parking lot. A wheelchair entrance with an elevator is located on the north side of the building. Please ring the doorbell and wait patiently for admittance.
